Which operating systems/web browsers are supported?

The officially supported web browsers for the XP Cyber Range are limited to Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. The Range does not require Adobe Flash, web browser plugins, or any other installed software. We recommend accessing the Range through a desktop or laptop browser. While you can access it through mobile browsers, it has not yet been optimized for them.


There are two available methods to access Virtual Machine Consoles, the HTML5 Console (Preferred) and the VMRC Console (Backup). HTML5 Consoles require nothing but a modern desktop web browser to use, while VMRC Consoles require the installation of the VMRC software. The supported operating systems and web browsers for each are listed below.

Note: The above listed browsers are only supported when being run on common up-to-date desktop operating systems, such as: Windows, macOS, and Chrome OS. At this time, the XP Cyber Range does not support console use on any mobile operating systems, such as: Android, iOS, and iPadOS.

Supported - This indicates the browser or operating system is officially supported as a platform for console use on the XP Cyber Range.


Available - This indicates the browser or operating system may provide some or all requirements to function as a platform for console use on the XP Cyber Range but is not officially supported.


Unavailable - This indicates the browser or operating system does not provide the minimum requirements to function as a platform for console use on the XP Cyber Range and is not supported.
